In this centre of political life, you discover a wealth of statues carved in honour of heroes from the country’s long history. The grand La Casa Rosada (‘The Pink House’) is a former home to presidents. It was from the balcony here that Eva Peron famously addressed her followers, while the imposing cathedral, which overlooks the square, is one of many wonderful remnants of the colonial area.
Explore the pastel-coloured houses in La Boca, as you walk along the cobbled streets that buzz with music, bohemian artists, and world-class Tango dancers. Take a tour of the city’s famous football stadium, La Bombonera, the home of Boca Juniors, or go to watch a match and absorb the passion the locals have for their team.
In San Telmo, Buenos Aires’ oldest barrio (neighbourhood), you discover a host of tango parlours, charming little cafes and antique shops in amongst the cobbled streets and colonial buildings. San Telmo Market takes place every Sunday and is home to stalls selling wonderful arts and crafts. As you wander through, watch street musicians and tango dancers perform for the crowd.
In the elegant Recoleta neighbourhood, you find a world-class shopping, luxury hotels and beautiful art galleries. Visit La Recoletta cemetery to see the grave of Eva Peron, the revered First Lady of Argentina from 1946 to 1952. With its vaults and tombs built in a rich variety of styles, the cemetery is also beautiful. The Argentine government declared it a National Historical Monument in 2011.
Buenos Aires is famous for its parrillas (steakhouses), and some consider Argentine steak to be the best in the world. When you find a parrilla, sit back, relax and enjoy your steak with a delicious glass of Argentine red wine.

Looking for a little more adventure? Try kayaking, hiking, horse riding, cycling, white-water rafting, or skiing (in the winter). During the colder months, Bariloche transforms into a winter paradise that attracts snowboarders and skiers from miles around.

The Falls sit on the border between Argentina and Brazil, span over almost 3km and reach a height of 60m. Some visitors claim the best 360-degree views are on the Brazilian side. Despite this, the wealth of walkways on the Argentine side allows you to explore the Falls up close from a number of different vantage points. The Falls are made up of 275 separate waterfalls, of which the ‘Devil’s Throat’ is perhaps the most magnificent. Here, water cascades down to form a U-shape, while the sound of the water thundering down is truly breath-taking. The Falls are surrounded by lush rainforest with a huge variety of flora, fauna and wildlife.
